Robert Swayzer III, a native of Winnsboro, was awarded the degree of Doctor of Public Health on May 13, 2011 at Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine's commencement ceremony, held in New Orleans.

Swayzer's dissertation, Correlates of Risky Sexual Behavior among Adolescents in the United States: A Secondary Analysis of the 2007 Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS), explored the correlates of risky sexual behavior among in-school youth in the United States.

Family and friends commemorated this occasion with a celebratory luncheon at Zea's Rotisserie and Grill, located on St. Charles Avenue in the historic garden district. Swayzer resides in Atlanta, Ga. and is presently employed as a lead public health advisor at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
