Moroni tough competitor for Patriots

Franklin Parish baseball head coach Lynn Middleton has coached a lot of great players during his time at Franklin Parish High School in Winnsboro.

Senior catcher Brian Moroni will forever be etched in his mind as one of the toughest competitors to ever put on the red and blue.

"Brian is one of the best hitters to come through here since I have been here," Middleton said. "He is a competitor and he just did a great job for us on and off the field."
Moroni's story is one of perseverance and hard work.

The six-foot, 180-pounder spent much of his sophomore and junior seasons on the bench due to various injuries that included a shoulder surgery in 2008 following an injury on the football field.
