Cobb lone ranger in sheriff's race Franklin Parish voters will go to the polls in October to elect a new sheriff for the first time in 16 years. Steve Pylant announced his retirement recently after four terms in office. Chief deputy Kevin Cobb told the Sun Monday that he would seek the position in the upcoming election.
"I'm excited about the opportunity to continue serving the people of Franklin Parish," said Cobb, a 17-year veteran of the sheriff's department. "I feel like I've worked hard in my current position and I'd like to continue those efforts to make this a better and safer place to live and work."
Cobb began his tenure at the sheriff's department under former sheriff Eugene Parker in 1992. Pylant was elected as sheriff in 1996.
"I look forward to serving out my fourth term in office, and will work closely with whoever is elected as my successor to provide a seamless transition to a new administration," Pylant said. For the full story, subscribe to the The Franklin Sun's NEW E-Edition! |
