Pylant to retire as sheriff
Steve Pylant has announced that he will not seek a fifth term as Sheriff of Franklin Parish.
"After 28 years in law enforcement, I feel the time has come to close this chapter in my life, Sheriff Pylant said. "I do, however, look forward to serving out my fourth term in office, and will work closely with whoever is elected as my successor to provide a seamless transition to a new administration."
Sheriff Pylant will complete his fourth term in office in June of 2010 and through his efforts during the past 15 years, as well as the efforts of those working within the department, the operation of the Franklin Parish Sheriff's Office has been changed significantly.
"I'm proud of what we have accomplished during my four terms in office.
