Cougar Golf Team slices district play, qualifies for state

The Franklin Academy Golf Team finished third in an 11-team field at the Grove Golf Course in Minden on April 18.

The Cougars, who are Class A, beat four Double A teams and finished behind only Riverdale and River Oaks.

This tournament was played on a narrow 18-hole championship layout, great preparation for the South State Tournament which was held on April 26.

The Franklin Academy Golf Team finished third at the South State Tournament held at Patrick Farms Golf Club in Brandon, Miss., on April 26.

This accomplishment qualifies the Cougars for the overall state tournament at the Canton Country Club in Canton, Miss., on May 2.
