Winnsboro Elementary is no longer classified by the state as academically unacceptable, according to school officials.

Based on the 2010 School Performance Scores (SPS), Winnsboro Elementary has earned the distinction of Exemplary Academic Growth by the Department of Education.

Superintendent Lanny Johnson was recognized Monday during the regular meeting of the school board for "outstanding leadership in guiding parish schools toward accountability goals."
