FMC considers partnership with private hospitals A plan to create partnerships between state run and privately operated medical facilities could soon give low-income patients of Franklin Medical Center more treatment options.
FMC's board of commissioners approved a measure during Thursday's regular meeting to allow the hospital to take advantage of the state's new Low Income and Needy Care Collaboration Agreement (LINCCA) program.
Last month, Gov. Bobby Jindal announced that $83 million in federal and state money would be made available to 27 private hospitals across the state to help service lower income patients.
The plan would allow patients using Medicare and Medicaid to be treated by private hospitals and help relieve the financial burden that public hospitals, like Franklin Medical, must bare in serving those who use government programs. For the full story, subscribe to the The Franklin Sun's NEW E-Edition! |
