Patriots end season with doubleheader

The Franklin Parish Patriots wrapped up their regular season on Saturday with a doubleheader loss to the Ruston Bearcats.
Franklin Parish lost the first game of the doubleheader 13-3 and the second contest 7-3.

In that second game, the Patriots and Bearcats were knotted up 3-3 for much of the game until Ruston took the lead for good, 4-3, in the sixth inning.

A three-run home run surrendered in the sixth inning helped Ruston to pull away and earn the series sweep.

"Ruston is as advertised," FPHS head coach Lynn Middleton said. "They are going to put pressure on you and make you do things you don't want to do. I thought we played well in the second game on Saturday."

Middleton said he saw his team gain confidence as the series went along and hopes if the team can earn a playoff bid, that the tough District 3-4A schedule will give his team an edge in the postseason.
