Lady Patriots' record 20-11, third in district

The Franklin Parish Lady Patriots saw their dreams of playing in the LHSAA Class 4A State Tournament end last week with a 10-0 loss at top-ranked Sam Houston High School. FPHS finished the season with a 20-11 record and a third-place finish in District 3-4A.

The Lady Patriots hit eight home runs and went 5-5 in district.

"Our goal was to make it to Sulphur this year," FPHS head coach Richie Kelly said. "And (the players) worked really hard toward that."

There were many positives that came from the 2011 season. The team qualified for the playoffs for the first time under the direction of Kelly. The team had a difficult road in front of it from the start.
