Summer jobs offered through pilot program
posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Through the Summer Youth Employment component of a pilot program to serve young adults in need of job training, a goal has been set to introduce our young adults to employers who will positively impact their futures.

Employers in the Franklin Parish area can make this program possible by volunteering to serve as Host Employers and providing structured job opportunities for young adults during the summer.

SYEP will start on Monday, May 16, 2011 and will end on Friday, June 24, 2011. SYEP will provide jobs for a limited number of the parish's young adults between the ages of 18 - 21 years old who apply and are accepted.

The Summer Youth Employment program will provide paid work experience using funds made available by the Workforce Investment Board SDA-83, Inc.

The local WIB has a youth coordinator (Colleen Dorsey) who can provide more information regarding the Summer Youth Employment Program (318-435-5687). The Franklin Parish Business & Career Solutions Center is currently recruiting youth and employers for this program.
