Story Archives: Recall petition for Dumas returned

Recall petition for Dumas returned
by Tom Bonnette - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
A petition sent for a recall election of Winnsboro Councilman John "Sonny" Dumas has been returned to the chairman of the recall committee, Monya Malone, for not being filed properly, according to a spokesperson for the Louisiana Secretary of State's Office.

"We received the petition on March 15, but we had to return it because it was invalid. (Malone) did not complete the full title of office for Mr. Dumas on the petition form," said Sailor Jackson, communications director for Louisiana Secretary of State Tom Schedler.

Jackson said that a memo was sent to Malone explaining to him how to fill out the form correctly and the office is waiting for a response.

Angela Malone, Malone's wife, who serves as vice-chairperson for the committee to recall Dumas, said that she and her husband have no comment about the the recall.

Malone said that he would present a letter to The Franklin Sun explaining why he believes that Dumas, who represents District 2 in Winnsboro needs to be recalled. So far, no letter from Malone has been received.
