Eagles found mutilated

There have been no arrests made in connection with the death of an eagle, but Wildlife officials said they are working hard to discover who shot the bird, cut its head off and dumped it in a ditch in southern Franklin Parish.

"We haven't made much headway yet, we we are working on this very diligently. We expect to be conducting some more interviews soon," said Lt. Scott Watson, an enforcement officer with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.

Officials said the bird, which had been shot and decapitated, was discovered in a drainage ditch on April 3.
