Winnsboro Main Street Manager Kay LaFrance-Knight believes that the past is something to be treasured and like-minded preservationist have honored her for her work in restoring one of the city's historic treasures—the old downtown post office.

LaFrance-Knight has been instrumental in restoration of the building, which is now the Old Post Office Museum and she recently received a special award for her part in creating the museum by the Louisiana Trust for Historic Preservation in Leesville.

LaFrance-Knight said she is humbled and excited to have been selected for the award, which was given during a luncheon at the VFW Hall in Leesville.

What an honor this is," she said. "Preservation is so very, very important in this day and age and to win an award from your peers who feel as strongly about it as you do is just a special thing."
