ULM President addresses chamber

It's about time that the state's higher education institutions are given the recognition they deserve, University at Louisiana at Monroe President Nick Bruno told members of the Winnsboro-Franklin Chamber of Commerce.

"There is a lot going on here, but (ULM) has always been a modest institution that just does its job rather than jump up on the table and talk about it," Bruno said. "Well, in today's climate I'm going to talk about it for as long as I am here."

Bruno, who served as keynote speaker at the chamber's membership meeting at the Old Post Office Museum on Thursday, touted accomplishments that included the university's high graduate rate in the nursing program and expansion into agribusiness education, which helps prepare students to work in rural regions like Franklin Parish.
