Warhaws look for redemption Friday

The University of Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks baseball team will be looking for redemption Friday when they begin a three-game home stand against the Arkansas Red Wolves.

ULM is coming off another disappointing weekend which saw the team lose 2-of-3 games at home to Florida International University.

FIU took the Friday contest, 5-3 before ULM evened the series with a 4-1 victory. On Sunday, FIU turned the tide and swamped the Warhawks, 12-0.

The Golden Panthers (18-12, 4-5 Sun Belt) were able to capitalize on a stiff wind blowing out to left field with three home runs, while DeSimone held the Warhawks (15-11, 4-5) to just seven hits. DeSimone (3-2) struck out seven and walked three.

Rudy Flores gave FIU the only runs it would need with a two-run homer in the first inning.
Garrett Wittles kept the inning alive as he doubled on a ball back up the middle that skipped off second base and jumped into left field.
