LSU Tigers take on Ole Miss Rebels
by Cody Futrell - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
The Louisiana State University Tigers will try to right the ship this weekend when they host the Ole Miss Rebels in a three-game Southeastern Conference series at Alex Box Stadium in Baton Rouge.

LSU dropped to 1-5 in the SEC last week with a pair of losses to the Georgia Bulldogs in Athens, Ga.

The Tigers won the Friday night matchup, 7-3, before dropping both games of a double-header on Sunday, 9-5 and 3-2.
LSU had some success hitting the ball.

LSU was led at the plate in the Georgia series by junior centerfielder Mikie Mahtook, who hit .455 (5-for-11) in three games with two homer and four RBI. Mahtook's two-run homer on Friday in Game 1 of the series broke a 2-2 tie in the sixth inning and the Tigers. Mahtook is now hitting .365 on the year with six doubles, one triple, 26 RBI and an SEC-best eight home runs. Freshman pitcher Kurt McCune pitched a complete-game six-hitter on Friday to lead LSU over Georgia.
