Mangham Dragons open district play with win against Sterlington

Mangham High won three of four games last week as the Dragons open their District 2-2A schedule Thursday at home against Sterlington.

"We're playing well right now," said Mangham coach Scott Wilcher. "The guys are really working hard and our pitching is coming around."

Mangham defeated Ouachita Chrisitan 6-4 on March 15 as Tyler Weed doubled in the eighth inning to bring in the winning run.

Weed also had a 3-run home run in a 4-3 win over Bastrop.

Mangham defeated Forest 13-1 in the Caldwell-LaSalle Tournament before falling to LaSalle 10-9 in its only loss of the week.

"We just couldn't overcome seven errors in that game," Wilcher said.
Seth Parker had eight hits last week.

"We feel like we've had a good non-district season and we're ready for district now," Wilcher said.
