Johnson pulls plug on Turkey Creek

After months of wrangling, Mayor Jackie Johnson pulled the plug on his controversial Turkey Creek Development Project during Monday's regular meeting of the Winnsboro City Council.

The council was set to vote on a resolution for approval on a feasibility project that would have been the first step in Johnson's plan to develop Turkey Creek, but he asked that the measure be stricken from the meeting agenda.

"I want to officially say to you that I won't bring (the project) back up again. I think it's a good idea, good for the city, but the fight has been totally my fight," Johnson said. "If there is an interest in the city, I will entertain an audience, but I have not received enough proportionate support to entertain this measure at this time."
