Story Archives: DC Gators snap back

DC Gators snap back
by Cody Futrell - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
The Delhi Charter Gators (1-9) continue district play this week as they play a pair of games against the Oak Grove Tigers. Thursday the teams will play at Oak Grove beginning at 6 p.m. and again at DCS at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Last week, the Gators dropped three straight games in the Franklin Parish Tournament before beating Block 14-4 to end the tournament with their first victory of the season.

Head coach Chad Johnson believes the Gators may have finally broken through a mental slump on offense.

"The last four of five games we have had some kind of mental block at the plate," Johnson said. "The players are just trying to grow up. We talked about it and I told them to think about when they were successful in the past."

The Gators heeded those words as they pounded out hit after hit to ravage the Block bullpen and put up more than 10 runs for the first time this year.
