The SAFER Rural Task Force held a meeting in Winnsboro on Feb. 23 which focused on Franklin Parish partners and the services they provide to victims of domestic violence.

Established in October of 2008, the SAFER (Stop Abusive Family Environments Rural Services)

Project is a region-wide awareness and partnership to help reduce the impact of crimes of domestic and dating violence, sexual assault and stalking, in five rural Northeast Louisiana parishes: Caldwell, Franklin, Morehouse, Richland and West Carroll.

Victim service providers represented at the meeting were The Wellspring, Louisiana Offices of Family Support and Community Services, River of Life Church, Franklin Parish School system, Fifth Judicial District Courts, Winnsboro Police Department and the Franklin Parish Sheriff's Department.
