Council delays Turkey Creek vote
Mayor Jackie Johnson has been waiting months for the Winnsboro City Council to approve the first step of his Turkey Creek Development Project, but he wants to wait a little longer.
It will take at least another month to know if there will be a feasibility study for the project, since the council delayed voting on the measure during Monday's regular meeting at Johnson's behest.
Johnson urged the council to hold off on the vote for the project he has worked months to see the council approve until all five councilmen could be present. All were at the meeting except Councilman Craig Gill, who reportedly was out of town on business.
"We are not going to beat a dead horse. I am going to present this to the council and I will accept their decision," Johnson said. "I see that Mr. Gill is not here and I feel it would be unjust to his constituents if they felt this had been pushed through."For the full story, subscribe to the The Franklin Sun's NEW E-Edition! |
