Story Archives: Johnson's plan up a creek?

Johnson's plan up a creek?
by Tom Bonnette - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Mayor Jackie Johnson didn't get a chance for approval on a feasibility study for his controversial Turkey Creek Development Project Monday when there was no meeting of the Winnsboro City Council.

Johnson was forced to cancel the meeting, because no quorum was present due to three members of the five seat council not showing up.

The councilmen who were absent—John "Sonny" Dumas, Craig Gill and Richard Mahoney—have stood against Johnson's plan to move ahead with the proposed $1.8 million study that would be the first step in Johnson's plan to develop Turkey Creek.

The meeting was rescheduled for next Monday, March 7, at 6 p.m.
Gill was reportedly out of town on business and couldn't make the meeting. Dumas, who was called by a Franklin Sun reporter shortly after the meeting was canceled, said he had "caught a little virus" and couldn't attend, adding "I guess that there were no birds in the bush tonight."
