Catfish Cookoff to herald season

The ever-popular Catfish Cookoff will again be a part of the annual Taste of Franklin sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, the Franklin Parish Catfish Festival, and the Franklin Parish Tourism Commission.

This year's event will be held at the United Pentecostal Church Family Life Center located on Loop Road in Winnsboro, and is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday, March 10.

According to Festival Director Paul Price Jr., entrants in the Cookoff are now being accepted.
"We've had a lot of fun with this event the last six years, and it serves as a great kickoff for the festival," Price said. "We've got some great cooks in our part of the world, and many of the past recipes using our famous pond-raised catfish have been absolutely delicious."
