A first look at the proposed rural health clinic to be built to service the Crowville area was unveiled during Friday's regular meeting of Franklin Parish Medical Center's board of commissioners.

A conceptional drawing of the facility — to be called the Crowville Health Center — was presented by FMC Director of Engineering Dwaine Boothe. The facility, which is being designed by Winnsboro architect John T. Womble, has been more than three years in the making. Things have gone more slowly than expected as hospital officials have worked to secure state funds for the project, but it looks like efforts are coming to fruition, said FMC Administrator Blake Kramer.

"It's been going steady and the delays have been a good thing in some ways," Kramer said. "It has kept us from making mistakes based in rash decisions. I think that the health center will be a commodity for the community once we get off the ground with it—and we will."
