United they stand—to get more money from the federal government.

Franklin Parish is working to build a coalition with Concordia, Tensas and Caldwell parishes to overcome thresholds for participating in the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's (HUD) HOME Program.

Franklin Parish Police Jury President Ricky Campbell signed a letter of intent for the parish to move ahead in building the coalition—called a HOME consortium—during the jury's regular meeting Thursday night.

Because of strict guidelines, many rural parishes aren't able to qualify for housing assistance through the program alone and form partnerships to become eligible for additional HUD money.
