Jindal pushes corporate education

In support of educational privatization, Gov. Bobby Jindal spent last Wednesday appealing to the state's largest business lobby to help him persuade lawmakers to pass legislation in April that would allow businesses to partner with charter schools.

Jindal's plan is modeled after Florida's "Charter Schools in the Workplace Initiative," which gives businesses the authority to "provide a facility or land to a charter school — as well as partner with a school on career counseling, technical education and mentoring," Jindal said.

In exchange, the business would obtain a minority percentage of seats on the school's board.
