GOHSEP reps put parish on map

They might look a little like ghost-busters, but the people you might have seen roaming around Franklin Parish last week sporting strange high-tech backpacks are really workers with the Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness.

The workers are on a mission to document various locations in the parish for an online global imaging program to help emergency workers and other government officials in case of a disaster.

In December 2009, GOHSEP was awarded a $9.5 million Haz-Mat grant to conduct the statewide geospatial project. State workers are now busy collecting data in Louisiana that will be available to government officials online.
