GOHSEP reps put parish on map They might look a little like ghost-busters, but the people you might have seen roaming around Franklin Parish last week sporting strange high-tech backpacks are really workers with the Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness.
The workers are on a mission to document various locations in the parish for an online global imaging program to help emergency workers and other government officials in case of a disaster.
In December 2009, GOHSEP was awarded a $9.5 million Haz-Mat grant to conduct the statewide geospatial project. State workers are now busy collecting data in Louisiana that will be available to government officials online. .....For the full story, subscribe to the The Franklin Sun's NEW E-Edition! |
