Business entrepreneur Joel Short said he had one thing in mind when he considered Franklin Parish as a place to locate a business – staying true to his own roots.

"I'm from the country," Short said in an impromptu speech at the Old Post Office Museum on Monday afternoon. "We're a small company and we think that way."

Short said the company would possibly locate a crushing plant in Franklin Parish and farm-out the harvesting of specific oil-producing seeds. He said the company would invest some $2 million dollars on the facilities with the possibility of employing 35-50 local workers.
