Guimbellot 'broken-heartedly' resigns Health problems have caused Harvey Ray Guimbellot, who has represented District 6 on the Franklin Parish Police Jury since 1993, to resign his position on the public body.
Guimbellot has been absent from police jury meetings since suffering a stroke several months ago and was not able to attend Thursday night's regular meeting, where a letter he wrote informed the jury that he was stepping down.
"Due to unforeseen medical issues, I am broken heartedly submitting my resignation from the Franklin Parish Police Jury. It has been an honor to serve the citizens of District 6 and the parish as a whole for the past 17 and a-half years," the letter read.
The letter was read to the jury by Treasurer Sam Wiggins.
As a member of the police jury, Guimbellot served six one-year terms as president from 2003 to 2010. Over the years, he has also served on the jury's personnel committee, public works committee, insurance committee, garbage committee, appeals committee and as a liaison committee for Franklin Medical Center. .....For the full story, subscribe to the The Franklin Sun's NEW E-Edition! |
