Franklin Parish residents should prepare for more cold weather that could bring temperatures below freezing by Friday, with possible sleet and snow flurries.

Rain is expected to move into the region on Thursday afternoon. Lows on Thursday are expected to be in the mid-30s with highs in the mid-50s, but rain could move out before temperatures dip below freezing heading into the weekend, said Mike Edmonston, a senior forecaster with the National Weather Service in Jackson.

Forecasters predict that a cold front from Canada will drop temperatures into the upper 20s Friday night. Things should start to warm up some with lows in the upper 40s early next week. If the cold front brings in any snowfall at all to Louisiana, it will most likely fall north of Interstate 20, according to forecasters.
