Lancaster confirms candicy for DA

Assistant District Attorney John "Mack" Lancaster said on Monday that he would run to secede 5th Judicial District Attorney Billy Coenen in a special election to be held in October.

Coenen, who is retiring on March 1, tapped Lancaster earlier this month to serve as interim district attorney until an election could take place. Coenen has been district attorney since 1984.

Lancaster is the second person to make his intention to run for the position known. The first to throw their hat in the ring was Rayville attorney David Doughty, who announced last week.
