Footage for television show pilots have been shot at the Princess Theatre and are now being edited in hopes that a Nashville channel will buy a program modeled on the Grand Ole Opry to be shot in Winnsboro, said Gene Thompson, the theater's executive director.
Thompson said that film crews recorded musical performances earlier this month for two 30-minute pilots that would soon be sent to RFD TV (Rural Free Delivery TV), a Nashville-based satellite and cable television channel devoted to rural programming.
Weeks ago, the Princess Theatre received a $10,000 donation from AT&T Louisiana to fund the TV pilots. The made-for-television performances are currently being edited for the network, said Thompson.
"It's getting there. It's a diamond in the rough right now, but we are expecting it to all come together in about two months," he said.
