A new grocery store is coming to Winnsboro, providing shopping variety and needed jobs for residents.
On Monday, local dignitaries and Ford's Food Center officials ceremonially broke ground on the corner of La. Hwy. 4 and Eighth Street in Winnsboro on a four-acre lot for construction of the planned grocery store.
The 22,800 square-foot store is expected to employ around 50 people in full and part-time jobs when it opens in mid-summer said Quinon Ford, owner of the Ford's Food Center grocery chain.
He said that the company, which has had a presence in Franklin Parish for over 30 years, has been wanting to expand the Jonesville-based chain to Winnsboro for some time.
