A "bullet was dodged" when a natural gas pipeline ruptured in Richland Parish and did not ignite, said Sheriff Charles McDonald.

Three men were hurt incident, which occurred on Nov. 12 near Alto about a quarter mile off La. Highway 15, which caused a section of the highway to be shut down for a few hours.

The men's injuries were not serious, according to officials.

"We were lucky with this one," McDonald said. "There were no serious injuries and everything was able to be contained quickly."
