Parish wages lowest in state Workers in Franklin Parish rank at the bottom of the state in weekly wage earnings, according to a report released last week by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
On average, workers in Franklin Parish, measuring wages in the private and public sectors of the economy, earned $465 per week during the first quarter of 2010 — well below the national average of $889 per week and at the very bottom of wage earners in Louisiana.
In Franklin Parish, a perfect storm of bad economic factors has accumulated to place wage earners at the bottom of the list, said Cheryl Abbot, a Bureau regional economist.
