The Franklin Opry, Winnsboro's country music showcase performed monthly at the downtown Princess Theatre, might soon be playing to a much larger crowd — a television audience.
The Princess Theatre recently received a $10,000 donation from AT&T Louisiana that will be used to create two 30-minute television programs that will be pitched to RFD-TV (Rural Free Delivery TV), a Nashville-based satellite and cable television channel devoted to rural programming, said Gene Thompson, executive director of the theatre.
Thompson said a professional film crew and sound technicians will be hired to produce the pilot programs, which will be made using a combination of footage shot from live Opry performances and performances taped strictly for television.
