Scores improve at parish schools

School performance scores have improved across the state and parish schools have been part of that trend, according to officials.

In a report issued by the Louisiana Department of Education, all public schools in Franklin Parish improved their performance scores for the 2009-2010 school year. Winnsboro Elementary received an SPS of 70.9; Fort Necessity Junior High School, 74.2; Baskin School, 78.7; Gilbert School, 88.8; and Crowville Middle School, 87.8.

In a letter from State Superintendent Paul Pastorek, Franklin Parish schools were recognized for academic growth.

"While these rewards are derived from calculations and data, these gains represent improved outcomes for the students," said Pastorek.
