Story Archives: Brown leaves legacy of Christmas spirit

Carl Brown knew how to keep the Christmas Spirit and his spirit lives on in the program he helped found to make children's holiday wishes come true.
The Christmas Angels, which Brown had a hand in creating some 15 years ago, has changed its name to the C.A.R.L.s in Brown's honor — an acronym that stands for Christmas Angels Radiating Love.
Brown, a Franklin Parish sheriff's deputy, died last month. The program delivers Christmas presents to needy children through donations.
It's fitting that the program now bears Brown's name, said C.A.R.L. member Leroy Scott.
