Doggone good news
Despite what some might think, I'm kind of tired of writing about dogs and I suspect that some of you might be equally tired of reading about dogs in The Franklin Sun.
It's been a story that has had more legs than I ever thought it would back in March when we first began reporting on the trouble at Winnsboro's animal shelter.
Every time I thought I could put this to rest, a new e-mail would appear or the telephone would ring adding one more chapter to an ugly story that continued to live as more animals died.
There is good news to report, however, concerning the dog problem that has taken up a lot of space in this newspaper over the last several months.
If you check the front page of this newspaper, you will see a story titled "City's Web site gets overhaul."
In that story, you can read about a new feature on the city's upgraded Web site where Russell Grant, Winnsboro's director of animal affairs, is now able to post pictures and information about animals that are brought to the shelter.
I am told that not only will animals that are currently in the shelter be listed on the site, but animals that have spent time in the shelter can be viewed there for up to a year after they were either adopted, claimed by their owners or sent to the Ouachita Parish Animals Shelter in West Monroe to the euthanized. For the full story, subscribe to the The Franklin Sun's NEW E-Edition! |
