Surrounded by family as she has been all her life, Mrs. Jamie Taylor Hooper Shirley celebrated her 100th birthday on September 18 at her home at 1803 Mason Street, Winnsboro.

Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Richardson, Mr. and Mrs. Randy Shirley, all of Winnsboro, and the Rev. and Mrs. David Shirley of Alto, and Mr. and Mrs. Zelas Williams of Franklinton, the honoree's immediate family, hosted the event.

Enthroned in her chair, the family matriarch greeted relatives and friends from Baton Rouge, Ruston, Monroe, Mangham and Winnsboro. A great niece and her daughter had traveled to Winnsboro from Texas especially for the day.

The youngest of the 10 children of William Randolph and Sarah Elizabeth Taylor, Mrs. Shirley is the first in her family to reach the century mark.
