Residents head to polls Saturday

Voters will head to their respective polling places on Saturday to decide between candidates running in a slate of state and local elections and two amendments to the Louisiana Constitution.

Running in open primary for lieutenant governor are Democrat James "Jim" Crowley of Shreveport, Republican "Jay" Dardenne of Baton Rouge, Republican Kevin Davis of Abita Springs, Democrat Caroline Fayard of New Orleans, Democrat "Butch" Gautreaux of Morgan City, Republican Sammy Kershaw of Lafayette, Republican Melanie McKnight of Baton Rouge and Republican Roger Villere of Metairie.

Running in local elections are Winnsboro City Judge Ann McIntyre, a Democrat, who is being challenged for her seat by fellow Democrat, C. Arnold Lain. Two men, Democrat Gregory "Bubba" Brown and Democrat George Wilhite, are contesting Winnsboro City Marshall Bruce McCarthy, a Democrat, for his post.
