Story Archives: Patriots stand 4-0, beat Oak Grove

Patriots stand 4-0, beat Oak Grove

The Franklin Parish Patriots reached their first 4-0 start since opening the doors in 2005 last week with a 58-14 win over Oak Grove (2-2). Since consolidating high schools in 2005, Franklin Parish High School has never won four consecutive games to begin a football season.

"The kids played exactly the way we asked them to play," FPHS head coach Barry Sebren said. "I think it was a combination of that and Oak Grove being a little bit venerable with having some injuries and coming off a loss. And too we are beginning to hit our stride right now."

Class 1A All-State Oak Grove receiver De'La Mayers did not suit up Friday because of nagging injuries.

The Patriots rolled up 441 yards rushing and another 99 yards passing in the contest while limiting Oak Grove to 217 yards of total offense, including just 11 yards through the air.

Franklin Parish was lead on offense by running back Noble Johnson who had 104 yards and a touchdown on nine carries.
