Winnsboro couple confronts city

The Winnsboro City Court Building was packed with passion and people at the city council's regular meeting Monday night, as many turned out to show support for a couple whose dog was euthanized by the city.

The couple, Kim and Tommy Kimbrough, addressed the council and Mayor Jackie Johnson, wanting answers and asking officials to take steps to prevent another "unnecessary tragedy."

"Where was he picked up? Where is his collar? Why was he not held for five days? This has all been an unnecessary tragedy for our family," Kim Kimbrough told city officials as she stood at a podium, choking back emotion.

The controversy began when the Kimbrough's dog, a Ladner Blackmouth Cur named Patrick, was picked up by Russell Grant, Winnsboro's director of animal affairs, and sent to West Monroe to be euthanized.
