Jindal: Moratorium will cost La. thousands of jobs
The Obama administration's moratorium on offshore drilling has created an additional hurdle for Louisiana as the state struggles to recover from the BP oil spill and past years' devastating hurricane season, Gov. Bobby Jindal said in a stop Thursday to address the Winnsboro-Franklin Parish Chamber of Commerce.
The moratorium enacted in the wake of the oil spill has the potential to cost Louisiana tens of thousands of jobs if not rescinded, said Jindal, who lamented watching drilling operations leave Louisiana's shores in recent months.
"Indeed, we have seen rigs leave our waters for Egypt and the Congo. Someone will have to tell me how sending our jobs to Africa or making us more dependent on foreign oil is going to make us safer," Jindal said. .....
