Crops weather long, hot summer Franklin Parish crop yields are about average this year, despite unprecedented hot, dry weather, said agriculture officials.
"From July 15 to (Sept. 9), we had nine days with temperatures at 100 degrees. In addition to that, we are about 17 inches at this time below our average rainfall. We normally have 39 inches of rain, but we have only had 22 inches," said Carol Pinnell-Alison of the LSU AgCenter.
