Early voting for a slate of contests in the Oct. 2 election will run from Saturday, Sept. 18 to Saturday, Sept. 25.

Voters will be able to cast their ballots every day, excluding Sunday Sept. 19, at the registrar of voters office in the Franklin Parish Courthouse.

Running in open primary for lieutenant governor are Democrat James "Jim" Crowley of Shreveport; Republican "Jay" Dardenne of Baton Rouge; Republican Kevin Davis of Abita Springs; Democrat Caroline Fayard of New Orleans; Democrat "Butch" Gautreaux of Morgan City; Republican Sammy Kershaw of Lafayette; Republican Melanie McKnight of Baton Rouge and Republican Roger Villere of Metairie.

Winnsboro City Judge Ann McIntyre, a Democrat, is being challenged for her seat by fellow Democrat, C. Arnold Lain.
