Franklin Academy travels to Ridgeland, Ms., to face The Veritas School following an open date week.

"Hopefully we were able to get our legs back under us and heal some bumps and bruises," said Cougar head coach Doyle Hassell.

Franklin is 0-2 on the season, falling to Central of Macon and Tensas Academy.

"We've already played the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in our classification (8-man football) and now we're facing the No. 4 team," Hassell said. "They have a big team and I fully expect us to step up against this type of competition."

Ethan Vick and Cedrick Allen are both questionable for Friday's game with injuries.

"Coming off a bye week, you worry about a letdown," Hassell said. "At the beginning of the game we need to come out hitting on all cylinders."

Franklin returns home on Sept. 17 against Briarfield of Lake Providence.
