La. Technical College gets overhaul The Louisiana Community and Technical College System Board of Supervisors recently approved name changes for several of its schools in Northeast Louisiana, including the campus in Winnsboro.
Northeast Louisiana Technical College – Northeast La. Campus has been selected as the new name for the school, which also bears new signage and branding logos. In addition to the new look of the campus, many of the programs have been restructured to accommodate students with a variety of classes and certification training.
"We're extremely happy about the changes and ready for the new year," said Debbie Price, campus dean. "They've been taking the signs down to replace, so I'm excited about telling the community."
Price received the Northeast Louisiana Technical College's Outstanding Professional Staff award this year for her management and supervisory skills in her tenure as dean. She began her administrative career in 1994 as assistant dean of the school.
Four new instructors will join the faculty at NLTC this year. Glen Spence, Jimbo Morris, Dorothy G. Lindsey and Debi Elrod will share their expertise of the banking, welding and nursing worlds. A complete story on the changes and new staff members at NELTC will appear in next week's issue of The Sun.
The business program has been restructured to include five specific concentrations of business administration. Students now have the opportunity to enroll in goal-specific classes such as accounting, computer applications or legal office. Many programs offer industry-based certifications for specific occupations and financial aid is available.
Other campuses in the Northeast La. region include Bastrop Campus, Bastrop Airport Extension, North Central Campus in Farmerville, Ruston Campus and the main branch is Delta Ouachita in West Monroe. Norene Smith remains the regional director for Northeast Louisiana Technical College.
NLTC is accredited by the Council on Occupational Education. |
