Joseph Calderon
A memorial service for Joseph Calderon, 39, of Tyler, was held on Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010, at Stewart Family Funeral Home chapel with Deacon Clarence Blaylock officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.
Joseph Sol Calderon was born May 2, 1971 in Seminole, Texas to Gloria Flowers Roberts and N. Calderon Jr.
Joseph attended Milford ISD from k-12 and was active in football, baseball, and especially drama. He found his passion for acting his freshman year of high school and was awarded Best Actor in the State his senior year and was given a scholarship to the University of Texas. He attended Tarleton State University and then transferred to The University of Texas at Arlington. There he found The Phi Delta Theta Fraternity and some life long friends.
Joseph moved to Tyler, Texas and was co-owner of Elmo's Bar and Grill. He later worked with his brother as an electrician at Siemens-Dematic. Joseph loved the Arts, reading, music, food, and spending time with family. He especially enjoyed spending time with his nephews and niece to which he was like a second father. He stated many times that some of the most important times of his life were spent with his nephews and niece. He was a huge participant in their lives and instilled into a few of them his love for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was an enthusiastic Steelers fan to say the least.
Joseph passed away on Friday, August 20, 2010, at Hospice of East Texas in Tyler after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a warrior and fought the beast for over five years.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Edwin Ray Flowers.
Joseph is survived by his loving family including his love Paula Calderon;l father, N. Calderon Jr.; mother, Gloria Flowers Roberts and step-father, Willard Roberts; siblings, Michael Calderon, Jill Calderon Rowan and husband Joey; special brother and sister, Ronny and Winona Crumpton; grandparents, Muriel Flowers, Nestor Calderon Sr. and wife Ophelia; uncle Duane Flowers and wife Sandra; aunt Lucy Spurgeon and husband Ronnie. He was a special uncle to nephews, Jeremy, Jace, Jacob, Michael and Brady; special "Tica" to niece and nephew, Jodi and Joseph Michael "JoeMike."
A special thanks to the medial communities in Monroe, and Tyler, Texas and to Hospice of East Texas for their care and compassion. Donald Lynn Dean
Funeral services for Donald Lynn Dean, 30, of Winnsboro, were held at Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home on Sunday, August 29, 2010, with Rev. Jason Foster, Rev. Wayne Smith, and Rev. Darrell Dean officiating. Buriaol followed at Ogden Cemetery under the direction of Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home in Winnsboro.
Mr. Dean was born Sept. 18, 1979 in West Monroe, and passed away Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock. He was a resident of Winnsboro, a well tester with Cameron International, and a member of the Temple Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Donna Brunson Jordan; maternal grandparents: Mary Lynn and Holmes Brunson; paternal grandparents: Bud and Lessie Dean.
Survivors include his wife, Dani (Peters) Dean of Winnsboro; three children: Carly Dean, Kaitlyn, and Maddie of Winnsboro; father, Robby Dean and Debbie of Winnsboro; two sisters: Denise Parks and husband Ryan of Winnsboro; Elizabeth Mullican and husband Wade of Baskin; two step brothers: Jamie Brocato and wife Christy of Winnsboro, Joey Brocato and wife Faye, all of Winnsboro; special brother-in-law, Cody Shirley of Baskin; special grandparents, Sonny and Frances Sutterfield of Winnsboro; mother-in-law, Connie Shirley of Winnsboro; grandmother-in-law, Stella Peters of Winnsboro; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Pallbearers were Brad Martin, Paul Hunter, Colby Davis, Logan Bennett, Kevin Boyd, and Brian Reynolds.
Honorary pallbearers were Matt Guillott, J. W. Dean, Rod Elrod, Joe Dean, Ricky Reeves Sr, Bobby Davis, Wade Williamson, and the Employees of Cameron International.

James 'Butch' Hatten
Funeral services for James "Butch" Hatten, 56, will be at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday), Sept. 1, 2010, at the chapel of Gill First National Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Harper officiating. Burial will follow at Ogden Cemetery.
Mr. Hatten was born on Feb. 7, 1954 in Winnsboro and died Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010, at Glenwood Regional Medical Center, West Monroe. He was a resident of Franklin Parish and a member of the Baptist faith.
He is preceded in death by his father, Wilson Hatten.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Norwood Hatten; mother, Ottice F. Hatten, both of Winnsboro; sister, Deborah H. Hermann and husband Jerry of Cincinnati, Ohio; nieces: Christina and Michelle; great-nephews: Alexander and Aiden; great-niece Mikenzie; also other relatives and many friends.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Ashley, Tommy Ashley, George Faulk Jr., Ricky Johnson, Wayne May and Larry Tarver.
Honorary pallbearer will be Mike Clark.
Memorials preferred to Louisiana State Library for the Blind or the Humane Society.

Willie Mae Howard
Funeral services for Willie Mae Howard, 82, of Gilbert, were held at Calvary Baptist Church on Thursday, August 26, 2010, with Rev. Bobby Ensminger and Rev. Fran Guy officiating. Burial followed at South Central Cemetery under the direction of Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home in Winnsboro.
Mrs. Howard was born December 24, 1927 in Epps, and passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe. She was a resident of Gilbert, a retired Nurses Aid, and a member of the Calvary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Duvan Tucker; mother, Cammie (Mercer) Tucker; husband, Doyle F. Howard; four brothers: Clyde Tucker, Willie D. Tucker, Marlin Tucker, Donald Tucker; sister, Chris Roberts; son-in-law, James Earl Smith.
Survivors include her son, Glenn Howard; daughter, Carolyn Ann Smith, both of Gilbert; brother, Terry Max Tucker and wife Juanita of Breaux Bridge; two grandsons: Jamie Smith and wife Teresa, and Nick Smith; two step great-grandchildren: Landon Harper and Kyle Harper; one great-grandchild, Britnie Paige Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Pallbearers were Bobby Davis, Kurt Tucker, Bryan Tucker, Charles Roberts, Kurt Evans, and Mike Roberts.

Major M.D. 'Mike' Lord (RET)
Funeral services for Major M. D. "Mike" Lord (RET), 89, were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 28, 2010 at Lone Cedar Baptist Church with the Rev. Bobby Brown officiating. Interment with military honors followed at Lone Cedar Cemetery under the direction of Gill First National Funeral Home Winnsboro.
M. D. passed away in Miami, Florida on August 20, 2010. A native of Franklin Parish, he grew up in the Lone Cedar Community.
He was an Army glider pilot during WWII and later flew flight reconnaissance on the post-war Soviet-West German Border. He was one of the pilots who participated in the operation " Berlin Candy Bombers" in 1948 who repeatedly dropped candy to German children from his aircraft on approach to thDe runways. He served as a helicopter pilot and topographical survey officer in Alaska and Nicaragua . He served with the USAR Control Group at Fort Huachuca , Arizona until he retired as a Major in 1962.
M.D. was an AI Technician with LABC in the Monroe area and later worked for the Nicaraguan Ministry as the administrator of that country's AI program.
He was an avid gardener all of his life and he became an accomplished landscape specialist.
He is preceded in death by his parents E.M. and Ada S. Lord and a brother Alvin "Bear" Lord.
Survivors include his wife Thelma B. Lord of Miami; son Don Lord and wife Shirley of Jackson, LA; daughter Wanda Barrett and husband Tim of Brevard, NC; grandchildren Brad Lord and wife Ada of St. Francisville, Donna Gray and husband Bill of the Woodlands, Laura Link and husband Dana of Dallas, Texas, Jennifer McNeal and husband Skeeter of St. Francisville; brother Clifton Lord and wife "Bordy" of Winnsboro; also survived by 17 great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a special friend Bunny Lord of Monroe.
Pallbearers were Brad Lord, Ben Clark, Sam Moore, Colton McNeal, Donnie Lord, Mike Lord and Dr. Arnold Baham.
Honorary pallbearers were Bill Gray, Dana Link, Skeeter McNeal, Alfredo Bunge and Rudy Sengelmann.
Memorials preferred to Lone Cedar Baptist Church building fund.

Helen Louise Parker
Funeral services for Helen Louise Parker, 83, of Gilbert, were held at Christian Fellowship Church on Monday, August 30, 2010, with Rev. Gene Brown and Rev. Mike Woods officiating. Burial followed at Oakley Cemetery under the direction of Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home in Winnsboro.
Mrs. Parker was born July 27, 1927 in Liddieville, and passed away Thursday, August 26, 2010 at Mary Anna Nursing Home in Wisner. She was a resident of Gilbert, a homemaker, and a member of the Christian Fellowship Church.
She was preceded in death by her father, Floyd Skinner; mother, Valley Mae (Fitch) Skinner; husband, Rube Parker.
Survivors include daughters: Elaine Hunter and husband Steve of Gilbert, Tiney Ensminger and husband Russell of Wisner, Betty Mae Parker of Winnsboro, Totsy Mae Gaar of Dotson, La., Alice Solmonson and husband Don of Roosevelt, Utah; sons: Danny Gene Parker and wife Louana of Winnsboro, Edward Parker and wife Amber of Vicksburg, Miss.; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Adam Ogden, Charles Ogden Jr, Frank Allbritton, Jason Ogden, Trent Bradley, and Gerald Lott.
