Police nab car bandit

A Winnsboro man was arrested in connection to a recent string of vehicle break-ins and thefts, according to police.

Marcellus Chisley, 17, 1314 Blanson Street in Winnsboro, was taken into custody last Wednesday after being pursued by a man whose car he broke into that was parked at a home on Baldwin Drive, said Winnsboro Police Chief Lester Thomas Jr.

Thomas said the man caught the man breaking in the car and chased him on foot until police arrived and arrested the man. Police were called by someone else in the house, Thomas said.

The man has confessed to being involved in stealing three cars and breaking into seven others in
Winnsboro on Aug. 6 and Aug. 7, Thomas said.

"There might be more involved, but we've got one and he has confessed," said Thomas.
Police have recovered two of the stolen cars, which were found abandoned and are searching for the third car.

Chisley is being held at the Franklin Parish Detention Center on $124,000 bond.
